Your Contribution:

 

As a Commodity Buyer, you will execute the purchasing activities within defined commodities and ensure in-time availability of components in right quality fulfilling the cost targets.

 

Execution of Purchasing Activities

 

  • Conduct market research to gather information on prices, suppliers, and technical changes within the assigned commodity area.
  • Align with internal stakeholders to clarify requirements, specifications, and demand forecasts.
  • Ensure pricing and delivery timelines meet project and operational needs.
  • Review and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
  • Select suppliers for RFQ processes and initiate technical verifications.
  • Drive VA/VE initiatives and monitor delivery performance.

 

Purchasing Strategy

 

  • Implement purchasing strategies and contribute to their development in collaboration with the supervisor and lead buyer.
  • Support the continuous improvement of sourcing approaches and cost‑optimization measures.

 

Negotiations

 

  • Negotiate quantities, pricing, delivery terms, and conditions within the defined authorization level.
  • Prepare negotiation documentation, support strategic negotiations, and coordinate internal decision‑making processes.

 

Price Analysis & Optimization

 

  • Prepare detailed price comparisons to support decision‑making and identify optimization opportunities.
  • Initiate activities such as VA/VE, supplier validations, and cost‑reduction measures.

 

Project Management for Purchasing Projects

 

  • Lead purchasing-related projects to achieve cost, quality, and timing objectives.
  • Coordinate cross-functional project teams, including customers, internal departments, external partners, suppliers, and production sites.
  • Provide functional leadership when purchasing is the project lead.
  • Plan and assign work packages, monitor progress, and ensure timely execution.
  • Prepare project reports and present updates to management committees.

 

Additional Responsibilities

 

  • Apply company standards, methods, and processes, ensuring alignment with MAHLE’s global commodity strategies.
  • Conduct supplier visits and meetings, including domestic and international travel as required.
  • Manage internal and external reporting activities.
  • Lead price negotiations for purchased components.
  • Support MSP realization for purchased components.

 

 

 

Your Experience & Qualifications:

 

 

Education:

    • University degree or equivalent professional experience.
    • Field of study is flexible; technical or business-related backgrounds are welcome.

 

Professional Experience:

      • 2–4 years of experience in purchasing or procurement.
      • Experience in the automotive industry is an advantage.

 

Technical & Professional Skills:

    • Strong technical understanding and solid negotiation capabilities.
    • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and production technologies.
    • Familiarity with quality methods and tools (e.g., TS 16949, problem‑solving methodologies, FMEA, SPC, MSA, GD&T).
    • Commercial awareness and cost‑analysis competence.

 

IT Skills:

    • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office and SAP R/3.

 

Leadership & Communication:

    • Demonstrated leadership ability with a proactive, results‑driven mindset.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively in multicultural environments.

 

Language Skills:

    • Fluent in English (strong written and verbal communication).
    • Additional foreign languages are an asset.
