Your Contribution 

 

As a Plant Process Engineer reporting to the Production Manager, you will be responsible for responsible for the monitoring and optimization of the molding processes that are to be run within the MAHLE Tilbury facility. The Plant Process Engineer is also responsible for problem solving activities and continuously improving current and new product lines in the facility.

 

This role is responsible to:

  • Develop predictive methods to eliminate downtime and throughput yield constraints. Drive future cycle time improvements and best practices.
  • Develops, coordinates and troubleshoots the manufacturing process of plastic injection molding using polypropylene and nylon resins.
  • Supervise the technicians, as well as plan Process Technicians’ activities across shifts.
  • Develop the injection molding process for new tooling, including all molding machine parameters, peripheral equipment such as chillers and dryers.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing processing problems for quality issues including dimensional issues, flash, short shots, burn areas, flow marks & bubbles etc.
  • Make improvements to molding process to reduce cycle times to the lowest time possible without sacrificing part quality.
  • Work with Production to improve mold change over time, eliminating all waste during the internal and external change over elements.
  • Solve existing mold tooling issues with Tooling Engineers and Mold Maintenance.
  • Determine scheduling and troubleshooting requirements with Production Supervisor and Master Scheduler
  • Identify need and conduct training for Process Technicians to improve OEE, FTT, PE and 5S on Injection Molding machines.
  • Ensure training of Production Supervisors, Team Leads and Maintenance staff in the safe and proper usage of equipment and tooling.
  • Provide process directions to injection molding Process Technicians.
  • Sampling of new tooling (tooling trials)
  • Liaison with Tooling engineer and product development teams
  • Take customer product specifications and determine appropriate process parameters and controls
  • Revise parameters, track and document them in database
  • Handle Manufacturing efficiency issues and conduct problem solving with corrective action
  • Develop Technical training plans for all Process Technicians. Responsible for On the Job (OTJ) Training
  • Pareto ranking (machine down time, scrap, mold change, set up times etc.)
  • Cost analysis and justifications for capital investments (PAR’s)
  • Develop, implement and maintain a preventative maintenance system

 Your Experience & Qualifications 

  • Technological, Business or other diploma from a Community College.
  • 3 to 5 years’ manufacturing experience.
  • Supervisory experience in a unionized environment preferred.
  • Technical experience in molding, assembly, equipment troubleshooting and repair.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 
  • SAP experience is considered an asset.
