Calibration Launch Engineer

SUMMARY

This position requires strong planning and organizational skills. Primary activities will include supporting the calibration engineers and teams to manage and aid in the release and launch of calibrations. Your excellent communication skills and self-motivation will enable you to manage fleet calibration issues and concerns, driving them to resolution.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead weekly meetings to communicate progress

  • Monitor and analyze automotive powertrain data to identify any issues

  • Document and track issues

  • Lead and manage all issues through to resolution

  • Display strong planning and organizational skills

  • Provide clear, effective, and confident communication at all levels

  • Prepare technical reports, papers and presentations

  • Work closely with customers, suppliers and internal teams

  • Ability to adapt, integrate and work well with others is essential

  • Maintain a specialist working knowledge of new technologies as appropriate to the role

  • Observe all safety rules and regulations. Must act safely and be responsible for the safety of others around the work area

  • Maintain awareness of and meet the requirements of the Company Quality System

  • Employee duties are not limited to those stated above, but are inclusive of any tasks assigned by supervisor/manager

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in related field

  • Professional qualifications as appropriate

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in powertrain calibration development

  • Detailed knowledge of internal combustion engines and testing techniques

  • Experience with engine calibration and calibration tools

  • Knowledge of Engine Management Systems (EMS) principles including the use of calibration tools and processes

  • Understanding of current powertrain control system architectures

  • Experience working with On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) testing and calibration

  • Knowledge of legislative requirements for OBD, exhaust and evaporative emissions

  • Ability to work well under pressure and to strict time constraints, as part of a team or individually

  • Self-motivated with the drive to complete tasks in a timely manner with appropriate attention to detail

  • Flexibility with working hours and willingness to travel to customer sites for both long and short durations

  • Knowledge of script writing capabilities for data reduction and analysis

  • Working knowledge of Matlab/Simulink analysis and simulation packages
