Calibration & Controls Technologist (Onsite)
SUMMARY
Support and conduct on-site in-vehicle emissions and OBD testing for various customer programs. Support mechanical diagnosis and repair, including instrumentation maintenance. Assist engineering with data collection and data analysis as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Conducting OBDII/Circuit design validation
• Inducing circuit faults and monitoring/recording/reporting results
• Ability to analyze data to determine Pass/Fail criteria for testing
• Ability to log data, summarize results and findings, and prepare reports for customer Subject Matter Experts
• Support as required the specification, set up, maintenance, and calibration of high-level test equipment such as CAN tools
• Support as required: set up, tune, data collection, comprehensive component monitors, etc., for vehicle control systems
• Execution of PVEL2 and DTC Demonstration testing according to customer requirements
• Familiar with chassis certification and dyno certification testing procedures. Including scheduling of testing and acquisition of data.
• Ability to work with and understand customer processes, procedures, and metrics of success
• Ability to implement general test equipment e.g. heat exchangers, pumps, flow meters, valves, transducers etc.
• Ability to read and understand wiring schematics and drawings
• Ability to perform intermediate vehicle level work, including instrumentation, powertrain R&R, support of calibration projects and trips, etc.
• Work closely with customers in addition to internal teams in base engine gasoline, diesel, and alt fuel test and development activities
• Resolve problems using solutions that involve new techniques, technologies, or concepts
• Maintain a working knowledge of new technologies that may improve operations, and develop recommendations accordingly
• Maintain awareness of the Company Quality System
• Observe all safety rules and regulations. Must act safely and be responsible for the safety of others around work area
• Employees duties are not limited to those stated above, but are inclusive of any tasks assigned by supervisor/manager
QUALIFICATIONS
• 3 or more years of vehicle system testing related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience working with CAN tools and related test software
• Knowledge of engine calibration and testing practices
• Ability to prepare vehicles for testing with minimal guidance/input
• Work and communicate effectively with a variety of people such as; management, design, calibration, build, and test engineers, as well as customers and supplier representatives
• Knowledge of customer processes and procedures
• Knowledge of customer quality requirements
• Must be self-motivated and possess the drive to complete tasks in a timely manner and with appropriate attention to detail
• Strong planning & organizational skills
• Microsoft Office Skills and general computer literacy
