SUMMARY:

The Sr. Controls – Mfg. Engineer’s primary function is to provide technical expertise to BMW KKL HVAC Cell for solving all types of process issues, supporting production for improvement of plant metrics such as downtime, customer PPM, and defects. This position is 2nd shift (3-11 pm) to support all aspects of Engineering for the shift.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and support equipment troubleshooting events, in collaboration with process engineering and maintenance.
  • Participate with project teams to define and develop PLC programs for the plant, with the target to improve key plant measurable related to safety, quality and productivity.
  • Perform automation start-up and post start-up support for internal and external customer projects, both on software and hardware side.
  • Provide internal and external customer project feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Support the First-time thru quality initiative while customizing PLC program.
  • Document and maintain records of projects and PLC revisions.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Mechatronics engineering with extended experience working on automated processes environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with solid knowledge in programming with Allen Bradley Rockwell Automation Software including Studio 5000 and Siemens S7.
  • Control Logix / RSLogix 5000, SLC 500 / RSLogix 500, ability to program using Ladder Diagram, Functional Block Diagram, HDMI Panel View
  • Understanding and application of six sigma-based troubleshooting methods
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) to create PLC programs.
  • Experience with system integration and troubleshooting with central controllers, motor starters, ancillary controllers.
  • Manage multiple projects with the flexibility of adapting to changing priorities.
  • Keyence IX and IV2 sensor knowledge a plus.
  • Siemens S7 and TP1500 Comfort HMI Panel programming knowledge.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing, Just In Sequence, Overall efficiency, line sequencing, KANBAN a plus.
  • Experience with industrial robots a must (Kuka, Fanuc).
  • Demonstrated leadership, strong interpersonal skills, and excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated self-starter and independent worker.
  • Must be comfortable in team-oriented environment.
  • Strong customer service attitude.
