Manufacturing Engineer (New Product Launch)
Your Contribution
As a Manufacturing Engineer (New Product Launch) reporting to the Head of Operations Support -Filters, you will be responsible for the development, industrialization, and optimization of manufacturing processes, equipment, and systems supporting new product launches, capacity expansion, and continuous improvement initiatives within a Tier‑1 automotive manufacturing environment. This role serves as a key technical interface between Product Engineering, Program Management, Operations, Quality, Purchasing, Maintenance, and external suppliers, ensuring manufacturing solutions meet stringent automotive quality, cost, delivery, and safety requirements.
This role is responsible to:
- Lead manufacturing process development for new product introductions, from concept through launch and production ramp‑up. Partner closely with Program Management to ensure all manufacturing deliverables align with program timing and milestones.
- Develop CAPEX justifications including cost analysis, ROI, and payback calculations.
- Lead capital projects from approval through installation, commissioning, and handover.
- Develop, validate, and continuously improve manufacturing processes, including troubleshooting complex process issues and addressing both internal and external quality concerns.
- Lead APQP deliverable including, process flow diagrams, PFMEAs, work instructions and all quality related documentation.
- Drive scrap reduction, efficiency improvements, and cycle time optimization for assigned processes. Lead and complete continuous improvement initiatives to meet or exceed cost‑savings and operational targets.
- Develop and author equipment specifications, performance requirements, cost analyses, and RFQs for integrating injection molding machinery and related equipment into the manufacturing process.
- Support and assist in the training of supervisors, team leads, operators, and maintenance personnel on the safe, effective, and proper use of equipment, tooling, and processes.
- Lead and support initiatives to reduce equipment changeover time and improve overall manufacturing flexibility.
- Create, update, and maintain equipment check sheets, operating standards, and master documentation, ensuring accuracy, revision control, and compliance.
- Collaborate with management, engineering, quality, maintenance, and operations teams to align on manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and capacity planning.
- Review and provide input into manufacturing strategies for new product quotations, ensuring feasibility, cost competitiveness, and alignment with plant capabilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of manufacturing operations and continuous improvement objectives.
Your Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering or related field from an accredited four-year college or university
- 5+ years of experience in advanced manufacturing or process engineering
- Experience in plastic molding & assembly
- Knowledge of CAPEX equipment evaluation and implementation required
- Automotive OEM or Tier‑1 manufacturing experience
- Experience with new product pre-production trials required
- Hands-on experience with Robotics, Automation, PLC, Vision Systems
- Experience in CAD (AutoCAD, SolidWorks or equivalent)
- Familiarity with MES, SAP, or similar manufacturing systems
- Lean Six Sigma certification is highly desirable (Green Belt or Black Belt)
