SUMMARY:

The Health, Safety, & Environmental Supervisor provides support and expertise to the organization at all levels to help achieve our safety strategies and goals. This role will help to lead and influence behavioral changes to reduce incidents as we aim to be industry leaders in health and safety. The HSE Supervisor will assist in the implementation of training, meetings, risk assessments, and audits by supporting and maintaining our HSE systems and processes.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement environmental compliance programs related to hazardous waste, air permits, storm water, wastewater, emergency response plans, including maintaining the ISO 14001 Environment Management System and certifications.
  • Responsible for workers’ compensation program.
  • Develop / implement occupational health & safety programs in accordance with ISO 45001 standards.
  • Use strong interpersonal skills and project management to collaborate / communicate with team members and local staff to ensure locations / facilities are compliant with internal and external regulations.
  • Conduct regular HSE inspections of work sites to ensure company and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist with contractor safety management system including pre-qualification process.
  • Provide requirements for PPE inventory including research of new/additional equipment.
  • Ensure required HSE reporting is completed on time and accurately.
  • Maintain HSE logs and documents and prepare reports as necessary and requested.
  • Support document control procedures as they relate to safety management system requirements.
  • Assist in creating HSE programs, policies, and standards to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain and update HSE & training databases as required.
  • Follow up on all Accident / Incident reports to ensure that they are completed, investigated, root cause analysis, and that recommended preventative measures are acted upon.
  • Assist with corporate sustainability initiatives.
  • Manage all aspects of OSHA standards and compliance including annual hearing conservation program, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Lock-Out/Tag-Out, and other programs.
  • Support in facilitating annual Health & Safety Days as well as additional safety meetings, workshops, and drills to enhance safety culture and emergency response readiness.
  • Review new machinery, equipment, and plant layout changes to ensure a proactive HSE approach and compliance with all regulations.
  • This job will be supervising HSE Coordinator & HSE Representative.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or other related disciplines from an accredited four-year college or university. Master’s degree desirable.
  • Superior knowledge of OSHA / EPA regulations and standards (TN regulations/stds. preferred).
  • General knowledge of NFPA and NEC regulations and standards.
  • 5-7 years of HSE Supervisor experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience with plastic or injection molding environments and worker comp issues highly desired.
  • Environmental experience and training development are a plus.
  • Certified Safety Professional highly desired.
  • Ability to demonstrate buy-in and employee ownership of safety, health, and environmental programs.  Ideally have changed the safety attitude in a plant.
  • Able to be on call for all 3 shifts for emergency situations.
  • Skilled in performing internal on-site safety and environmental inspections for audit purposes
  • Excellent analytical skills to identify problems and propose effective solutions.
  • Display professionalism both in appearance and attitude and display a desire to “drive to excellence”.
  • Possess the ability / willingness to work within a team environment and maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Must possess an advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
