SUMMARY

 

General oversight of employees on a day to day basis by making job assignments, informing employees of daily production requirements, and insuring that operator efficiency is achieved. Incumbent will provide leadership to supervised employees by exercising good communication techniques, supporting the company’s policies and procedures and treating all employees fairly and in accordance with MAHLE standards.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

 

  • Responsible for promoting a safe and productive work environment.
  • Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and directs set up and adjustment of machinery and equipment.
  • Interprets specifications/job orders to employees and assigns duties.
  • Schedules manpower requirements.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, safety and morale.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency and safety of the department.
  • Trains new or newly assigned employees on their job duties and job responsibilities, including the quality and safety aspects of their job.
  • Performs activities of supervised employees approximately 30% of the time by breaking employees and filling in as necessary.
  • Reviews process documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Supports and completes 5s audits as required.
  • Maintain clean, organized, safe working environment with equipment and materials located in proper locations in accordance with 5S standards inside and outside of facility.
  • Ability to work all designated shifts.
  • Excellent attendance record.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Production Group Leads have limited responsibilities for the direction for hourly production employees.  Specifically, they can assign and direct the work of hourly production employees.  

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

 

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required.
  • 3 years of experience in a leadership role in manufacturing preferred.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

 

Must be fluent in English. Able to read/write routine reports and correspondence. Able to communicate effectively with peers, managers, and directors, and to present to groups of customers or employees of the organization. Values and considers the perspectives and backgrounds of all parties.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

 

Ability to use a hand held calculator to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

 

REASONING ABILITY

 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

  • Strong analysis, problem solving, process and troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Dynamic communication / inter-personal skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Highly organized and possess good decision-making skills.
  • Ability to operate email system, prepare basic presentation materials using Excel and PowerPoint.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, regularly required to stoop, kneel, sit, stand, bend, reach, climb, and move about the facility.  Required to frequently lift up to 30 lbs.

 

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

While performing the duties of the job, may work prolonged periods under high heat and humid conditions inside the facility; exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration. 

 

The environment in manufacturing plants and testing labs are often loud, hot, and with particulates in the air. Working environment may contain potentially hazardous materials such as acids, solvents, oils, and common etchants. In such environments, adherence to PPE regulations is required.

 

OVERTIME

 

Employees must be able to work additional hours and/or additional days during the payroll week, which can and will be in excess of forty (40) hours per payroll week. Working overtime is a condition of employment.

 

TRAVEL

 

Domestic travel with/without overnight stay may be required.
