SUMMARY

 

The Maintenance Group Leader will be responsible for coordinating and providing work direction to assigned employees. Incumbent will provide leadership to supervised employees by exercising good communication techniques, supporting the company’s policies and procedures and treating all employees fairly and in accordance with MAHLE standards.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

 

  • Directing technicians in maintenance activities such as building repairs, machine repairs, preventative maintenance, and work orders.
  • Ability to work with outside contractors.
  • Assisting Supervisor with the planning and communication of scheduled repairs to achieve a smooth flow of work.
  • Creating work orders as needed.
  • Closing PM’s and WO’s out that are completed on their designated shifts.
  • Assisting in training new hires.
  • Assure compliance with appropriate safety practices and procedures and with applicable federal, state and local codes, regulations and requirements.
  • Providing coverage for vacations and absences, including absences of Supervisor.
  • Participate in developing action plans to resolve problems with safety, quality, production, delivery and 5S.
  • Maintain clean, organized, safe working environment with equipment and materials located in proper locations in accordance with 5S standards inside and outside of facility.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Provide input to performance reviews; monitor work of assigned team.
  • Ability to perform a variety of skilled work.
  • Basic record-keeping techniques.
  • Ability to work all designated shifts.
  • Excellent attendance record.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Maintenance Technicians report to the Lead for general work direction.

 

 

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

 

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required.
  • Maintenance certificate from technical school or equivalent.
  • 7 years of experience in a maintenance shop or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

 

Must be fluent in English. Able to read/write routine reports and correspondence. Able to communicate effectively with peers, managers, and directors, and to present to groups of customers or employees of the organization. Values and considers the perspectives and backgrounds of all parties.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

 

Ability to do mechanical math functions, including using decimals and fractions, an understanding of weights, temperatures, pressures and measurement conversion.

 

REASONING ABILITY

 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

  • Strong analysis, problem solving, process and troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Dynamic communication / inter-personal skills.
  • Highly organized and possess good decision-making skills.
  • Must have a current, valid Tennessee Driver’s License.
  • Ability to drive a forklift..
  • Self-directed and ability to perform with minimum supervision and strong knowledge of safety practices.

 

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, regularly required to stoop, kneel, sit, stand, bend, reach, climb, and move about the facility.  Required to frequently lift up to 50 lbs.

 

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

While performing the duties of the job, the employee will be required to stand for long periods of time and use upper extremities to handle or reach; lift up to 25 lbs. on a repetitive basis; require the ability to visually see close, distance, color, peripherally, and depth perception; work prolonged periods under high heat and humid conditions inside the facility; and occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud requiring the use of hearing protection.

 

OVERTIME

 

Employees must be able to work additional hours and/or additional days during the payroll week, which can and will be in excess of forty (40) hours per payroll week. Working overtime is a condition of employment.

 

TRAVEL

 

Domestic travel with/without overnight stay may be required.
