Procurement Engineer / Project Buyer

Summary

As the N.A. Project Buyer you will be co-located with the Compressor N.A. Purchasing Team, Program Management Team, and Engineering Team.  You will be responsible for preparing material costs and vendor tooling (including tool renewal forecasts) for Acquisitions that the compressor team is working on. You will be responsible for tracking performance to these material costs and project timelines once the business is won. This role includes sending RFQs to bid list suppliers, working cross-functionally to evaluate supplier offerings/capabilities, sourcing suppliers at the sourcing table, and ultimately negotiating supply agreements with the selected supplier(s). You will also be the Prototype Buyer in support of the Lockport Engineering Team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide material costs using the Project Buying tool or FACTON (once adopted) in support of Acquisitions
• Interface with Product Engineering to understand electronics Bill of Materials and requirements.
• Send RFQs to suppliers on the bid list, analyze the results, and complete the sourcing process for each new part
• Negotiate and execute Supply Agreements for each newly sourced part
• Track performance to business case numbers and sourcing timing once the business is awarded   
• Ensure RFQ dashboards are kept up to date
• Process prototype orders

Qualifications

• Education: BS in Engineering, BS and/or MBA Business or Supply Chain
• 3 Years of experience in Supply Chain/Purchasing is preferred but not mandatory.  Automotive industry experience is a plus.   
• Areas in which knowledge/experience is required: Advanced Excel Skills are important as well as negotiating skills and project management skills.
• Detailed knowledge of markets of the assigned commodities
• Understanding and use of cost drivers and market dynamics in the assigned commodities.
