Product Design Engineer, Automotive - Onsite (Lockport, NY)
Effective January 1, 2025, MAHLE has combined its former business units “Engine Systems and Components”, and “Electronics and Mechatronics” in the new business unit “Powertrain and Charging”. This way, MAHLE will strengthen its strategy field of electrification by allowing the focus areas of efficient electric motors and intelligent charging to benefit from the group’s over 100 years of experience with engine systems and components.
The development of piston systems and cylinder components has been a core competence at MAHLE. Because we understand the interaction of engine components, we can deliver optimal solutions to our customers. Our products are used around the globe in two-wheeled vehicles, passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and large engines. The development and production of high-quality engine components and systems for motor sports and high-performance production vehicles as well as large and small engine components for leading engine manufacturers also fall under this business unit.
Electronic and mechatronics components are playing a crucial role in enhancing the efficiency of the powertrain and advancing e-mobility. With its electric drives, actuators and auxiliaries, and control and power electronics product groups, MAHLE already offers relevant solutions in this area today.
Your Contribution
As a Product Design Engineer, you will work as part of the product engineering team to help in the development of MAHLE electrically driven AC compressors, which is a mechatronic product needed in conjunction with future hybrid or fully electrified powertrains.
The position contributes to the electrical compressor development activity by design and validation of electric AC compressors.

Designing and developing AC compressor components working with a team of Product Engineers and Designers with focus targeted to the electronics portion of the compressor.

Develop validation programs for OEM customers for the successful launch of their programs.

Participate in innovation, product cost and quality improvement initiatives.
Your Experience & Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering is required

Minimum 2 years of experience in design and/or development of mechanical or mechanically driven rotational devices; 5+ years of experience is a plus

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in pre-development, testing and/or validation is required

Manufacturing experience is highly desired

Automotive industry experience is a plus
