SUMMARY

Position resides in the metrology lab section of the prototype shop in Lockport, NY. The metrology lab has the primary responsibility to support the engineering team in dimensional analysis activities involving all aspects of the business including preproduction, production, and warranty related issues. The primary purpose of this position is to increase the capacity of the metrology lab to handle additional workload expected with the planned addition of measurement activities to support validation and PPAP of housings for new HVAC projects in the Lockport Technical Center. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • 3D Scan product/fixtures using GOM software which includes:
    • Part prep
    • Reference Point Placement
    • Part scanning
    • File Management
    • Preparing appropriate reports
  • Program and run CMMs using PC-DMIS software while utilizing CAD models of products/fixtures and prepare appropriate reports, as workload and skills permit.
  • Design of jigs, fixtures, and tools as business needs require and time allows.
  • Use basic inspection hand tools (calipers, micrometers, etc) as required.

ADDITIONAL DESIRED CAPABILITIES

  • Support additive manufacturing prototype creation in our 3D Printing Lab:
    • Create or modify CAD models as needed.
    • Generate STL and Slicing files.
    • Post-process printed parts to ensure fit and finish.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Technical degree or skilled trades background with substantial CAD design experience is desired.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is preferred, but candidates with the capability and desire to learn will be considered.
  • Ability to use CAD data to define nominal conditions, use common inspection hand tools and to read and interpret complex 2D drawings, proficiency in GD&T is required.
  • Experience with 2D and 3D CAD Software such as Siemens NX or Catia.
  • Experience in inspecting product/tools.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, email).
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with additive manufacturing.
