Automotive eCompressor Product Engineering Intern (May-Dec '25 - Lockport, NY - Onsite)
Effective January 1, 2025, MAHLE has combined its former business units “Engine Systems and Components”, and “Electronics and Mechatronics” in the new business unit “Powertrain and Charging”. This way, MAHLE will strengthen its strategy field of electrification by allowing the focus areas of efficient electric motors and intelligent charging to benefit from the group’s over 100 years of experience with engine systems and components.
The development of piston systems and cylinder components has been a core competence at MAHLE. Because we understand the interaction of engine components, we can deliver optimal solutions to our customers. Our products are used around the globe in two-wheeled vehicles, passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and large engines. The development and production of high-quality engine components and systems for motor sports and high-performance production vehicles as well as large and small engine components for leading engine manufacturers also fall under this business unit.
Electronic and mechatronics components are playing a crucial role in enhancing the efficiency of the powertrain and advancing e-mobility. With its electric drives,actuators and auxiliaries, and control and power electronics product groups, MAHLE already offers relevant solutions in this area today.
Your Contribution
The eCompressor Product Engineering Intern will have the opportunity to support our Compressor Product Engineering Group in the launch of automotive air conditioning compressor designs for global customer vehicle applications. This position requires a hands-on individual who will be expected to participate in all aspects of the product development process including product design, component selection, prototype builds, prototype testing, and test data analysis.

Work within the MAHLE Compressor Product Development team to advance product development and customer launch activities.

Assist with preparation, build, and testing of compressor product samples.

Coordinate and execute test programs.

Analyze test data and organize results with observations and conclusions.

Apply engineering practices to reach design solutions.

Participate in product cost and quality improvement efforts.

Participate in cross-functional teams related to customer program launch activity.

Participate in meetings, seminars, and training sessions.

Meet with outside suppliers/vendors.

Operate machine tools / produce product components.

Performs other assignments as instructed by Department Management.
Your Experiencee & Qualifications

In pursuit of a college degree from a 4-year University in Mechanical Engineering is required

Minor in Electrical Engineering is preferred

Class Standing: Sophomore, Junior or Senior

Precision Rotating Equipment knowledge and/or experience is a plus

Experience reading Technical Drawings and interpreting DG&T (Geometric Dimension & Tolerancing)

Skills: Analysis, High-level Mechanical Aptitude, Project and Time Management, AutoCAD Drafting
