SUMMARY

This position resides in the Prototype Shop of the Lockport Engineering Center. The Prototype Shop has the lead in conversion of engineering ideas and designs into physical parts. It also supports the engineering department in the development of new products and processes.

The primary purpose of this skilled position is to serve as a member of a high performing team with a diverse and overlapping set of capabilities. This position is specifically responsible for programing and operating the 3D printers and all associated jobs needed for their operation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare CAD models for 3D printing.
  • Operate all 3D printers in department. Program, load/unload parts, calibrate, clean, perform basic maintenance, load material.
  • Monitor machine operations.
  • Track inventories and order materials as needed.
  • Assemble and modify products as necessary.
  • Align, fit, and join parts using bolts, screws, plastic welding, and/or gluing,
  • May use drawings and CAD designs to create prototype parts according to specification.
  • Interact with engineers and provide design recommendations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma is required; 2 year associates degree in a technical field a plus

  • Experience in additive manufacturing (i.e. 3D printing) is required 

  • Experience with CAD design (Solidworks or NX) is desired 
  • Creative, methodical, and good problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Willing to learn new skills as required to complete tasks
  • Skilled with hand tools
  • Able to read drawings and understand basic geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Good computer skills
  • Good organization skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Must have customer and quality focus
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work well with co-workers and engineers

Salary: 45,000-70,000
