SUMMARY:

The Production Scheduler manages the scheduling / timeliness of the production process to ensure the company meets all customer delivery dates.  Duties include managing materials and equipment availability, scheduling production, monitoring performance, and adjusting for process problems that negatively impact the shipping of quality product on time.  Role is a key member of the logistics team.   Organize and coordinate elements of the manufacturing process, analyze data and forecast trends for planning / collaborating with different team members to ensure goals are achieved while following company policies and procedures. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Forecast customer orders to estimate potential sales with some reliability.
  • On-time Delivery
  • Ensure purchasing is following the Plan For Every Part (PFEP) so the pipeline for materials is stable so orders flow through as scheduled.
  • Utilizing an ERP tool prepare work orders on a daily basis ensuring customer shipping schedules are in line with customer release/order dates as requested.
  • Manage the open labor time so it is well-utilized and minimizing delays due to poor planning.  Ensure to maximize operational capacity but not exceed it.  Work closely with order management and production to ensure a balanced production schedule.
  • Work with engineering in the process mapping and understanding manufacturing times and ensure the system properly reflects operational reality.  Work pro-actively with engineering in cost reduction (waste/muda) opportunities.
  • Evaluate risk by supporting the Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) process with engineering and quality.
  • Ensure the production schedule is available, well in advance, and visible to all team members.  Multiple modes of communication are expected to ensure effective communication.
  • Agility - the manufacturing environment offers many challenges and being able to adjust the plan, communicate a revised plan effectively, and keep team members motivated on goal.
  • Outline initiatives that align with company goals.
  • Proactively interfaces with other departments; sales, shipping/receiving, warehouse, quality, production, and finance.
  • Ensures work environment is safe, organized, and meet legal obligations.
  • Performs other duties as required and/or requested.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.  4 years of direct experience in similar role and industry in leu of education.
  • 2 years of direct production scheduler experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong Excel skills, as well as skills in SAP S4/HANA highly preferred
  • Certified in Planning and Inventory Management (CPIM) - preferred
  • Sense of urgency and ability to handle multiple topics timely and efficiently.
  • Highly organized and problem solver; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions; Works well in group problem solving situations; Uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
  • Proactive communication (verbal and written).
  • Ability to work closely with Oder Specialist, Shipping / Receiving Supervisor, Production Supervisor, Quality and Sales.
  • Experience with statistical analysis and ability to identify and anticipate issues.
  • Excellent attention to detail, conscientious and diligent.
  • Promotes and follows the business unit’s Core Efforts and Values.
