SUMMARY:

The Design & Development Manager plans, coordinates, and oversees the development and design of new industrial thermal management products.   Accountable for developing products to budget, completing all designs within the project timeline, identification of service products, technical leadership and empathy to their team members.  Technically astute managing a highly technical team, understanding the needs of the customer with regards to product requirements, the constraints of manufacturing, stay current on new technologies, and designing solutions to manufacturing constraints.  Exceptional understanding of industry market needs, great communication skills, technical disciplines and an aptitude for managing risk.  Creating a high-performance culture keeping the team on task managing within budget and timelines and adjusting to the needs of the team members ensuring a successful product launch delivering new products into the market.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Employee engagement and development to support all levels of the business.
  • Proposing and managing development and design budgets for projects.
  • Providing clear and concise instructions to development and design team members.
  • Outline initiatives that align with company goals.
  • Stay current on industry and product trends to identify growth and improvement opportunities.
  • Environmentally and socially astute, always considering opportunities to reduce carbon footprint and supporting community activities/events.
  • Ensure training of team members through all levels of the business and support growth in team members’ career path.
  • Proactively interfaces with other departments; sales, quality, production, human resources, purchasing and finance.
  • Performs other duties as required and/or requested.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.  Master’s degree in engineering management, technical management or project management preferred.
  • 3+ years of direct related technical experience in thermal management experience required.
  • 8+ years in project management, project engineering required.
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification and/or PMP – Project Management Professional - desired
  • Good computer skills in MS Office products.
  • Team leadership experience
  • Proactive and positive communication skills (verbal and written) that motivate and drive results.
  • Organized and efficient.
  • Problem Solver - Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions; Works well in group problem solving situations; Uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
  • Project Manager - Coordinates tasks; Communicates changes and progress; Completes projects on time and budget; Objectivity and openness to other’s views, input and feedback.
  • Promotes and follows the business units Core Efforts and Values.
  • English is the primary language.
